Tutorial to make the waterfall braid

To make the waterfall braid, first you need to comb the hair well from roots to ends, to eliminate knots and frizz. The basic version of the waterfall braid is obtained by leaving the lengths loose and free.

Take a section of hair starting from one side of the head and divide it into three sections. Start creating a classic braid for at least 3 rounds. At this point, let the right lock fall freely and you will move it to the center.

Pass the left strand over the middle one, take a new strand on the right of the braid and repeat the same step. Continue braiding following this pattern until the braid has reached the desired length.

The final result will have to have the braid that winds all over the head, from right to left. Do not forget to secure the two ends with an elastic and possibly some hairpins to prevent it from getting damaged. Also spray some hairspray on your hair to fix the hairstyle better.

Variants of the waterfall braid

After mastering the basic waterfall braid, you can indulge yourself and create many variations for a personalized and tailored result for you. Some idea? Oblique, crown or side cascade braid.

  • The oblique one starts on one side of the head and goes under the ear passing diagonally.
  • In the side one the braid falls on one side.
  • The crown one is obtained by weaving braids on the sides of the head and then joining them in the center.

Or you can create more cascading braids horizontally: after creating a first braid on the highest part of the head, proceed to create another one slightly lower. In this case, the second braid will be formed using the strands that fall from the first.

Tips for a perfect waterfall braid

As we said at the beginning of this article, the waterfall braid lends itself very well if you have straight hair, in the case of curly hair, it is better to first proceed with an ironing with the plate. The first few times you try this technique, try to leave your hair slightly damp so as to make it easier to weave the strands.

The waterfall braid lends itself very well to being made on very long hair, this is because it manages to enhance the lengths where you can maybe decide to make curls.

If, on the other hand, you have wavy hair, know that the effect of the waterfall braid will be crazy especially because the real braid will be a little thicker and more visible. Apply an anti-frizz product before starting to avoid the "tangled hair" effect.

You can also choose to make the waterfall braid lower than normal, or combine it with other hairstyles in which to take advantage of the lengths.

Whether you decide to do the basic waterfall braid, or its variations for a social event or for your wedding, we are sure you will love the final result.

Ideas and tips for decorating the waterfall braid

One of the peculiarities that makes us love hairstyles with braids, is the possibility of being able to indulge themselves with the decorations: clips, flowers and ribbons can give an extra touch to an already very particular hairstyle.

Even the simple basic waterfall braid can be enriched with a ribbon of the same color as the dress that you will attach to one of the strands and weave right together with the hair. The same ribbon can also be used as a simple bow to secure the end of the braid.

For the wedding, an idea could be to insert some small flowers in the hair weaves that will make everything even more romantic.

The choice of the accessory is absolutely personal and subjective, you can base yourself on the type of event for which you will show off this hairstyle.
