The heart rate monitor

When we train, we should keep our physical situation under control, even if we are not professional athletes. And in particular, the heart rate which, if monitored and kept under control, allows us to train more effectively and not require too much or too little from our body and our strength. Depending on the effort required, our body draws different benefits, but without a certain parameter it is in fact difficult to establish how much effort you are doing and how well you are training.

This parameter is provided by the heart rate monitor which measures the heart rate and consequently the effort to which the heart is subjected.

It is absolutely not true that cardio is a useful tool only for "sports professionals" who want to improve their performance, its use is recommended for everyone and its benefits are numerous:

  • You will have a precise idea of the effort you are making
  • Considering that the perceived fatigue is not always proportional to the effort actually made, cardio will allow you to train correctly: you will not risk either too much or too little effort.
  • Training will be more fun because you will have a goal: that of reaching the required heart rate
  • Clearly, by observing your heart rate, the training will be much more effective and you will more easily reach the goals you have set for yourself
  • The training will be personalized: if half is the same for everyone, each percentage will correspond to different frequencies from person to person depending on age and other parameters
  • Cardio will tell you precisely what your physical condition is: if, for example, you feel like you are struggling so much but your heart rate doesn't go up, it is a symptom of fatigue, so a little rest will be a must.

You don't need a heart rate monitor with 1000 functions, just one: heart rate detection. The expense for its purchase is therefore minimal (€ 20.00 - 30.00) although its use will improve the quality of the training.

As for the training percentages, you can use a simple formula to find 100% of your heart rate, that is 220 - age = 100%

The others will be calculated accordingly.
