Trikini. What it is, when to wear it and how to combine it

What is a Trikini?

The trikini is a swimsuit that summarizes a bikini and a whole model in a single garment. In fact, we are talking about a single piece, which however leaves many areas of the body uncovered, such as the hips and belly, just like the classic two pieces. A trikini, made up of three pieces, is a model with a portion of fabric that connects the upper to the lower part

Each model is different: it can cut the stomach in the middle or it can gently accompany only one side, leaving the other uncovered.

The history of the Trikini

© Kika The first trikini appears in France in 1967. Especially popular in the 70s, the trikini was also used in Italy by the stars.
At the time the young misses of Miss Italia were also worn, who in the 1969 edition took part in the competition with this model, abandoning for a moment the more classic one-piece swimsuit.

Over the years, designers have reinterpreted it in many ways: with the tricot, sexy, almost bondage or in a more romantic way.

Many stars have chosen to wear it to enhance their shapes: Monica Bellucci, Jennifer Lopez, Jessica Alba and Megan Fox.

Trikini: when to wear it

The trikini has a huge flaw: it does not allow a uniform tan. A costume with such a complex structure, in fact, could leave unsightly marks, right on the torso and back.

If you are already tanned enough, however, there is no problem; once you have added the ideal complexion, you can start showing off this sensual swimsuit even in the hottest hours of the day.
If, on the other hand, you have little time available to stay on the beach, or you are simply in the first days of exposure, do not choose it, at least in the hours when the sun is strongest. The trikini, on the other hand, is a very valid alternative for aperitifs at sunset, cocktail parties or evenings by the pool that require a bathing suit: here there is no danger of tanning and if the model is chosen with care it can be of great effect.

How to combine the Trikini

Like all swimwear, the trikini can also be enriched with some accessories, especially for beach parties or aperitifs. Obviously don't think about wearing a sundress and something that hides the central part of the costume: have you bought a trikini? You have to show it off!

Instead, focus on classy accessories, such as a wide-brimmed raffia hat, a scarf with which to collect your hair and vaguely vintage sunglasses.

The trikini can be a pretty aggressive garment, and toning it down with these accessories rebalances your look, making you look like divas.
