Stretch mark tattoos: never red ones

With creams to be massaged several times a day you can prevent stretch marks both in pregnancy and in periods in which you gain too much kilos in a short time. But if you don't have very elastic skin and if you haven't done any preventive action, you can try to cover them with one or more tattoos. However, it is not always possible to do so, as a lot depends on the type of stretch marks and the tattoo chosen to hide them well. Stretch marks and tattoos last for life, unless surgery is done to remove them. Therefore the tattoo artist to whom you entrust this project must be very skilled, to achieve the purpose of hiding these strips. You have to study the shape of the tattoo very well so as not to make it look like a remedial intervention. A tattoo should be done on healthy and also elastic skin, while stretch marks are like scars and certainly do not possess this characteristic. Before deciding, carefully consider what the advantages and disadvantages of this treatment may be. Also ask the opinion of a dermatologist who can tell you if the stretch mark is very deep or too old to cover it with a tattoo with good results. The tattoo should not be done when the stretch marks are still red. There is no work on recent scars and the red stretch mark sometimes needs up to a year to whiten and stabilize. Red stretch marks do not hold ink like white ones. On a fresh stretch mark the tattoo causes enough pain since the skin is still sore, thin and therefore innervated on the surface. Non-elastic skin risks ruining the job and, if the stretch marks are deep, it can also reject ink. The tattoo, therefore, risks becoming problematic. In that area, other stretch marks may still appear which would spoil the drawing. In addition, a lot more ink is needed to tattoo stretch marks than usual and the session lasts much longer.

Stretch mark tattoo: tattoo only on the outlines

A valid choice could be not to tattoo it directly, but to surround it with the tattoo, to make it part of a homogeneous, pleasant and original design. In fact, by not tattooing them directly on the stretch mark, but around it, there is no risk that the scar tissue cannot hold the ink or that the lines of the design become too double and discontinuous. In this way the stretch mark would become even more evident. According to cosmetic surgeons, in these cases the most suitable color is "flesh", as black and white could highlight the stretch marks even more and so also the bright colors. The flesh color is able to conceal imperfections well, including scars from surgery, trauma and vitiligo spots, while remaining on the natural tone of the skin. If the stretch marks are abdominal, the tattoo will be chosen based on the depth and quantity of the striae on the skin. Tribal or abstract floral design is suitable, even vertically if the position of the stretch marks requires it. For the hips are suitable tribals, symbols of rebirth and physical recovery and also those with flowers, a symbol of beauty and inner evolution. The stretch marks on the breast are suitable for tattoos with drawings of roses and intertwined vines, in order to be able to hide even larger signs and small imperfections In this case, always ask the advice of the breast specialist and your dermatologist.

Tattoo on stretch marks and scars from surgery or accidents

The tattoo is forbidden, not only not recommended, in the case of varicose and keloid veins, but also for stretch marks there are problems to consider. Stretch marks, creating cracks in the skin, especially in areas subject to rapid changes such as the belly, breasts and hips, make it less thick and vulnerable. According to some tattoo artists, tattoos on stretch marks and scars will have less shiny and clear colors and will be less aesthetic, unlike those applied to an intact area of the skin. In the case of deep stretch marks or scars from surgery, first of all you have to wait for the total healing of the lesion and then transform an imperfection into an original masterpiece, a sign of personalization, perhaps even with tattoos with threads of golden rain on the stretch marks, a recent fashion . Or you have to resign yourself to accepting these imperfections, trying not to affect your relationships with others and your safety with embarrassment, even at the expense of your sociability. According to some experts in the field, however, if the wound of a scar has healed and stabilized completely, it is possible to intervene without problems with a tattoo, as on healthy skin, and without fear that the color may discolor and spread. However, it is always necessary to take into account the vastness of the damaged area, the type of skin and also the fact that the scar tissue is thicker, sometimes in relief and with an irregular perimeter. Therefore, it is best not to choose linear designs, because the imperfection of the skin could ruin the final effect. If stretch marks and scars are not deep, there is a high probability that they will disappear under the tattoo. Regardless of different opinions, the texture of damaged skin is always a little altered compared to the intact one and above all it is quite difficult to cover scars or stretch marks of a rather dark color and very deep with the tattoo.
