I. The commonplaces about perspiration

Understanding this phenomenon

Sweating is normal and even essential. But, when excessive, sweating becomes unpleasant. Don't worry, though, there are ways to limit the damage.

The relationship with hair removal

There is not! The fact of shaving does not affect perspiration, contrary to popular belief.

Transpiration and warmth

In hot weather it is normal to sweat, because sweat allows the body to maintain its constant temperature and to cool the surface of the skin in case of high temperatures.

Compensate for ventilation: use fans, fans, open shoes ...

Hygiene

The expelled sweat is odorless, being composed only of salt and water. Where do the smells come from then? It is by coming into contact with bacteria that accumulate on the skin that sweat acquires an often unpleasant odor. How to do? Take a shower at least once a day!

The deodorants

They are mainly used to fight against bad smells. The so-called "antiperspirant" deodorants contain aluminum salts, which block the perspiration process, narrowing the pores of the skin; however, they also have the reputation of being carcinogenic: if in doubt, avoid them!

Stress and perspiration

Obviously, you will have already found yourself in the critical situation in which, from one moment to the next, you start sweating due to strong emotion or stress! These are the so-called "sweating fits". If you learn to cope with stress, you will no longer have to face these perspiration peaks!

II. Natural tips to better manage your sweating

> If you are very hot, avoid drinking too hot or too cold drinks, as temperature changes are compensated by sweating; rather choose drinks at room temperature.

> Limit the consumption of alcohol and spices: alcoholic or caffeinated drinks and flavored foods set in motion perspiration and are therefore to be avoided.

> The essential oil of palmarosa: in the evening, sprinkle your skin with jojoba oil mixed with about fifty drops of essential oil of palmarosa ... the bad smells should subside within three or four days!

> The alum stone: it is a stone that is used as a deodorant and does not prevent transpiration. Pass it on the skin after having wet it: it will have an emollient effect and eliminate odors.

III. Pathological sweating

Sweating can also become more than unpleasant, hindering our daily life: in this case we speak hyperhidrosis. The causes can be of hormonal origin, or related to other disorders.

To remedy, sometimes we resort to iontophoresis (penetration of ions through electric currents), especially to treat excessive sweating of hands and feet. I are also used aluminum salts, although there are those who claim that they are carcinogenic.

Today, by now, there is also talk of sweating ... with Botox! Botox is known for being able to erase wrinkles, but recently it has also begun to be used to treat hyperhidrosis of the armpits: the injection of Botox would even be able to block the action of the sweat glands that secrete sweat! This injection lasts a maximum of 6 months.

If you wish to receive more information on these treatments, do not hesitate: make an appointment with a dermatologist!
