Coronavirus: new proposals to help families
Coronavirus is not only having a negative impact on people's health. Economy, education, family, these are the other areas most affected by the disease. These days it seems to be stuck in a parallel reality, where you have the feeling of living on a break, waiting for the next decision from above or that, in everyone's hope, this evil passes and becomes only a bad memory.
Children at home and families in crisis
After days of waiting, the official communication finally arrived: schools closed until 15 March. Especially for less well-off families or for those who do not have the opportunity to work in smart-working, managing such a critical situation becomes particularly difficult, bordering on the impossible. Not being able to afford a babysitter, you will have to rely only on yourself or, at best, on a network of family or friends ready to help us. Unfortunately, not everyone has this luck.

So intervenes Angelo Bonelli, coordinator of the Greens, to shed light on the difficulties that families are facing during this emergency, inviting the government to provide them with financial support. The latter says he is ready to allocate 7 and a half billion euros for the introduction of extraordinary measures to alleviate the expenses of families and businesses.
“Co-responsibility”, this is the key word, according to the Minister of the Family Elena Bonetti, at the basis of the strategies to be implemented. Several, then, are the proposals designed to stand alongside families in difficulty. There is talk of baby-sitter vouchers, an emergency measure that Gigi De Palo, president of the Forum of family associations, defines "a caress in a situation where there is a great difficulty". Extraordinary parental leave to ensure that at least one of the two parents can take time off from work and look after their children, avoiding the burden of grandparents - who we remember are the most at risk segment of the population - in a daily commitment. Smart-working solutions, already adopted by many companies, and smart-learning, remote lessons through the use of technological equipment, to empower even the youngest and keep them busy in these long days that have the flavor of a holiday, but a holiday I'm not. However, we will have to wait until next week to know if these solutions will be approved or not.
