Farewell to Hitchcock's muse

Even today we say goodbye to "another star of the Hollywood firmament: Joan Fontaine. The" actress, born in Tokyo in 1917 and raised in California, was one of the first muses of Alfred Hitchcock, who introduced her to the public thanks to his interpretations in films such as Rebecca: The First Wife and The Suspect, for which she won the Oscar for Best Actress in 1942.

In one of the many interviews during her long career, the soft-featured, frightened-eyed actress (whom Hitchock loved so much) said: "I've had an amazing life, not just for acting. I took part in an international balloon race, I flew a plane ... I did a lot of exciting things and I lived a life without regrets."

Joan died in her sleep at her home in Carmel, California.
