Guanabana is the fruit of a plant called Annona muricata, which grows in tropical lands. Originally from the Caribbean, in particular the Antilles, it then spread throughout the American Tropic, and then arrived in South Asia. It is also found, to a lesser extent, in Florida and northern Australia.
It is easily recognized as it is bright green and covered with thorns.

It is usually cut in half and eaten with a spoon. It is also suitable for nice smoothies and in Colombia it is made with cold milk. It does not keep for long, especially if ripe and therefore it is advisable to consume it quickly.

This fruit contains a very high quantity of vitamin C, as well as antioxidants, which is associated with a fair amount of protein. There are also minerals: from iron to phosphorus, from potassium to magnesium, up to sodium.
