Foods that are bad for your health: 7 foods to eat in moderation

Although many diets include apparently healthy foods (such as corn or green beans), some experts agree that the way they are produced and processed is not as beneficial to the body's health.

For example, these seemingly healthy foods help make us fat.

  1. · 1. Wholemeal bread
  2. · 2. Lactose-free milk
  3. · 3. Diet soda
  4. · 4. Sprouts
  5. · 5. Popcorn
  6. · 6. Green beans
  7. · 7. Transgenic corn

A healthy and balanced diet with copious amounts of fruit and vegetables is always the basic rule that we should follow at all times, to live a healthy life and feel good about ourselves.
To achieve this goal and keep fit, it is important that the meals of the day are substantially based on foods rich in nutrients that are beneficial for our body.

Yet not all foods that appear healthy in appearance really are. For example, cabbage, corn and green beans are praised for their beneficial properties, but that's not entirely the case.

Here is the list of seven apparently healthy foods that we shouldn't eat too often.

1. Wholemeal bread

Abusing wholemeal bread is not always a great idea, this is because the ingredients of this type of bread are genetically manipulated. Therefore, whole wheat can contribute to problems such as celiac disease and other disorders related to intestinal inflammation.

2. Lactose-free milk

Lactose-free milk and creams contain large doses of corn syrup, a liquid sweetener created from corn starch that contains fructose and helps damage the liver.
Unlike glucose, fructose has more damaging effects on metabolism and the vascular system.

3. Diet soda

The artificial sweeteners contained in this drink confuse our body and alter the metabolism, which will thus increase the body weight. Furthermore, the citric acid contained in soda can cause dental erosion and contribute to ruining the natural enamel of the teeth, causing them to turn yellow.

Some more important contraindications concern cerebrovascular and osteoporosis problems, as well as depressive reactions and severe headaches.

4. Sprouts

Bean or pea sprouts, known simply as sprouts in science, contain a large amount of protein, so much so that they can be compared to meat, milk or eggs, but they are fat, contained in the latter.
So what's the problem? Very simple: they must be in very humid conditions in order to germinate and those same circumstances unfortunately allow the proliferation of potentially dangerous bacteria, such as E. coli or listeria.

5. Popcorn

Who doesn't go crazy smelling popcorn? In fact, this snack doesn't contain as much fat as other ultra-processed foods, including French fries.

However, for them to actually be considered beneficial, they must be made at home, since microwave popcorn has an "excessive amount of excess salt and high vegetable oil."

Even those with butter are not far behind, on the contrary: they contain a high content of diacetyl, the chemical component that gives them an unbeatable taste but which certainly cannot be considered healthy.

6. Green beans

Vegetables are often not as good as they should be - they can contain chemicals and insecticides to which they are exposed during cultivation.

Unfortunately, even green beans are not spared from this exposure: they can in fact be contaminated by acephate, a very powerful pesticide and equally harmful to health.

7. Transgenic corn

Corn is typically genetically modified to produce its own pesticide and resist insecticide spraying during cultivation. However, it is not a completely healthy product, which is therefore good not to consume too often.
