The Nu Project: the photographic project that celebrates the natural beauty of women's bodies

We all know very well what are the canons of beauty that are often seen on the covers of clothes and on advertising billboards. Often unattainable models, apparently without defects (thanks to the exaggerated use of photo editing) and extremely posed and glamorous.But despite the awareness that these models are often impossible to obtain, we too frequently find ourselves criticizing ourselves in front of the mirror, for one too many stretch marks or that little bit of cellulite on the buttocks.

Photographer Matt Blum also noticed this trend and that's why he decided to create "The Nu Project", started in 2005. No model, almost zero makeup. Her photographs are the "praise to" normality ", the celebration of small defects and imperfections. But they are also the mirror of the personality of the protagonists and of all those peculiarities that make each (and each) unique and of which one should be proud. .

The project initially involved 150 American women, whose portraits were collected in the book The Nu Project Vol I, available for purchase online.
Last year, The Nu Project also arrived in Europe: women from Copenhagen, Berlin and Warsaw were photographed for the series of images that will be exhibited in some galleries and published in an upcoming book. But we leave you to a small preview of this series of photos ...
