“Indifesa”, the Terre des Hommes campaign against the exploitation of girls. Look at the pictures!

The Terre des Hommes association launches the “Indifesa” campaign which aims to turn on the spotlight and raise awareness of the serious problem of exploitation and abuse of violence of which millions of girls all over the world are victims.

Until the end of this month, it will be possible to send a message to 45596 and give your contribution to say enough to the violence and exploitation of girls and young girls, freeing them from slavery and helping to guarantee them a life worth living. The "Indifesa" campaign aims to raise funds to protect domestic slave girls in Peru and Ecuador, prevent the infanticide of newborn girls in India, and support the education of girls at risk of early marriage in Zimbabwe. In fact, the data are alarming: 14 million baby brides are forced to marry despite their minor age, over 68 million baby slaves who do not have the opportunity to study or play, of these, 30 million carry out dangerous jobs every day. and over 11 million are servants in the homes of others; 20,000 girls under 20 who give birth to a child thus becoming baby mothers, while 125 million women and girls who have undergone genital mutilation. It is also estimated that in the Philippines alone over 60,000 girls and boys are forced into prostitution. Not even Europe is a paradise for girls: according to a recent survey it emerges that one in three girls has suffered some form of violence, physical, sexual or psychological.

By investing in these girls, as the Girl's Declaration asks, the world will be better for everyone. Providing them with more education, health and safety means giving life to a generation of women, workers and mothers, capable of deciding their own destiny and contributing in a cascade to the improvement of their family and the whole community. "We are the first to welcome the 2030 objectives of the" Girl's Declaration "to ensure free and quality education for all girls, reduce the number of girls under 18 who become mothers by 50%, prevent and eliminate all forms of violence against girls and girls, increase access to financial services by 50% and eliminate child marriages " declares Donatella Vergari, General Secretary of Terre des Hommes: "Just one more year of secondary education is enough to allow girls to find a job that allows them to earn 15-25% more".

In Italy, Terre des Hommes is creating a national network of hospitals and pediatricians to fight and prevent child maltreatment and violence and gender discrimination prevention activities in schools.

Here is the association's campaign aimed at raising public awareness on the issue by means of provocative images with a strong effect.
