Selena Gomez sings “Lose You to Love Me” to turn the page

Between October 22nd and 23rd, at midnight, Selena Gomez released her new single “Lose You to Love Me”. With her 158 million followers, in fourth place in the ranking of the most followed Instagram profiles, Selena immediately jumped to the center of media attention and these days there is nothing but talk about her.

The reason is not so much the return to music after a long pause, but the content of the song. THE Selenators, fans of the pop-star, did not even have to listen to it, the title alone was enough to formulate the first conspiracy theories. The title, in fact, is already very eloquent in itself: "Lose you to love me". So, a love song, or rather, a song about a finished love, probably bad, which has brought with it a trail of pain that the singer finally wants to get rid of. Hence the immediate connection to Selena's story with singer Justin Bieber.

Watch the video below to find out the juicier details of this story:

The tormented love story with Justin Bieber

The most pop couple of the last ten years were together from 2010 to 2018, making it official only in 2011 with a photo of a passionate kiss on board a yacht. Their story is comparable to a roller coaster ride, given the frequent ups and downs that the media has covered profusely. THE Jelena, as the couple was nicknamed by fans, decided to close permanently in March 2018, a decision immediately followed by the dramatic act that follows the end of each relationship: the removal of all photos of the couple from social networks.

The references in the song

There are a few passages in the song that further stir up suspicion. “You promised me the world and I fell for it, I put you first and you liked it", or "This dance was killing me slowly, I needed to hate you to love me". All words that could be perfectly suited to the love story between the two singers. A love for which Selena gave her all to the point of getting lost and now feeling the need to turn the page to be, definitively, Well.

If these words weren't enough to confirm the link between the song and their relationship, another even more "burning" one is added: "In two months you replaced us, as if it were easy". Could it be a coincidence or maybe Serena is referring, in a not too veiled way, to the story between Justin and the model Hailey Baldwin, born shortly after their breakup? The two, in fact, got engaged officially in July 2018 and in October 2019 they got married.

Kidney disease and transplantation

Not just heart problems, Selena had to suffer health problems too. In 2015, the former Disney Channel face publicly stated that she was ill. The disease in question is Lupus, a disorder that affects the immune system and can compromise the health and functioning of all organs. On September 14, 2017 Selena heartened her fans from all over the world by sharing on Instagram a photo of her lying on a hospital bed next to her best friend. It was the latter, the actress Francia Raisa, who gave her a kidney to allow her to feel better. When it is said that true friendship saves your life!

Selena, not only gives us some new motivational music to add to the folder "Love disappointments - how to get out of it", but it shows us that it is possible to go through the greatest pains and then come out of it in the best version of oneself.
