What is the female condom?

The female condom is a kind of male condom adapted to the morphology of the vagina. It protects against any unwanted pregnancy and at the same time provides a barrier against sexually transmitted diseases.

It is a thin polyurethane or nitrile sheath (materials that avoid allergy problems) lubricated on the surface and equipped with a flexible ring at both ends. The inner ring, on the closed side, is used to insert and hold the condom in place while the larger outer ring covers the external genital organs. Once positioned, the female condom "lines" the walls of the vagina and receives the penis inside it. Thinner than the male condom, the female condom is also for one-time use. Happy?

The effectiveness of the female condom

The female condom is the only female contraceptive method that allows you to protect yourself from sexually transmitted diseases (herpes, hepatitis B, AIDS ...). It can be worn a few hours before sexual intercourse and therefore does not require the approval of the partner. Furthermore, when used systematically and correctly, Femidom is effective in 99.2% of cases.

The female condom has many advantages ...

  • More solid than a male condom, it breaks less easily
  • It can be inserted some time before sexual intercourse, so there is no need to interrupt foreplay.
  • It is not necessary to remove it immediately after ejaculation, so the moments of intimacy at the end of the relationship can be prolonged
  • Wider than the male condom, it does not compress the penis
  • Thinner than a male condom, it allows for more natural sensations
  • Not being made of latex, it does not cause allergies
  • The male partner is not actively involved in contraception and the woman can better manage her sexuality
  • According to some women, the outer ring, rubbing against the clitoris, helps to reach orgasm more quickly. And it is immediately F-E-L-I-C-I-T-Á.

… But also some inconveniences

  • The use of the female condom requires some practice (you must try to wear it three or four times before it can be applied easily). We therefore recommend that you practice inserting it before using it for the first time.
  • During intercourse it can make noise.
  • It is not very aesthetic: the outer ring is visible and covers part of the labia majora
