The development of the child

Progress ... at a glance
Your baby can now see clearly and follow the objects around him with his eyes. This helps him a lot in the perception of what is happening around him and where he is.

In particular, he is attracted to bright colors, which he can now distinguish well: red, yellow and blue. He's also capable of recognizing you, his dad, and anyone he's seen in the past 48 hours. His memory is not yet capable of storing this type of information for more than 24 hours.

Its activities
- Your baby begins to rise on his forearms when he is on his stomach. By now he is able to hold his head alone for a few seconds, but this requires a lot of effort for him. Hand-eye coordination begins to establish.

- What amuses him? Go for walks in the stroller, be cradled, look at colorful objects ...

- At night, the little one sleeps from 6 to 8 hours straight. During the day, between naps, he is able to stay awake for 1 to 1 hour and a half, rarely more. In all, he sleeps from 18 to 20 hours every day.

Good to know
The cranial bones are not yet welded and have empty spaces between them. The most important, called anterior fontanel, is between the frontal bone and the two parietals. It has the shape of a rhombus, with a diameter ranging between 1 and 4 cm, is made up of highly resistant fibrous tissue that perfectly protects the brain of the newborn. .

The fontanelle is progressively reduced until it closes, generally, around the year of life. Its second fontanel, however, much smaller, is located in the posterior part of the apex of the skull and closes within this period. Attention, its head it is still very delicate!

Our advice

If the baby cries

If the baby cries, talk to him, you will see that he will stop immediately. Maybe he just wants some of your attention, he just wants to play with you! He may even cry out of boredom, don't forget.

He loves your contact and looks for a way to make you understand. Talk to him about your family and explain the world around him: he already likes these verbal exchanges.
You can hang a musical carousel on his cradle, which he will spin to listen to the melody.

Attention, at two months your baby gets tired quickly, observe his reactions to understand when to let him rest.

Learn how to massage your baby
Massage has many virtues for your baby: it relaxes him, allows him to maintain a privileged bond with you, stimulates his sense of touch. In case of colic, it can also alleviate his suffering. You can massage it using a special massage oil for babies (some of the classic oils are contraindicated) or simply olive or sweet almond oil.

You can ask the midwife to teach you gestures, or buy a book on infant massages. In any case, if you follow your instincts, you will surely find the right gestures to make your baby feel good.

Not to be forgotten

Make an appointment with the pediatrician for the second month
Post-natal gynecological examination
Begin perineal re-education
Organize yourself to get your baby used to the person who will take care of him during work
