Semi-permanent make-up: when make-up accompanies you day and night

Women who love to be flawless at any time of day or night find in semi-permanent make-up a faithful ally of beauty and the quickest and most painless way (yes, you read that right) to have eyes and lips that are always perfect as freshly made up.
The world of make never ceases to surprise us. Are you sure you know all but all the beauty news of the moment?

What is semi-permanent makeup?

Semi-permanent makeup is also called micropigmentation, dermopigmentation or aesthetic tattoo. By semi-permanent we mean a technique carried out exclusively by specialized beauticians and visagists that allows you to define certain areas of the face in a few hours, creating a make-up effect or improving the aesthetic features in the case, for example, of asymmetry or if there are areas of alopecia or scars. . This technique is particularly suitable for people with walking difficulties, scars, vitiligo or allergies to traditional cosmetic products. It is no coincidence that many women and even many men turn to expert beauticians for a semi-permanent make-up session for corrective use.
It is good to remember that it is a lasting but not definitive make-up. This treatment is carried out by grafting color pigments into the dermis which are then reabsorbed by the skin. The beautician will use different techniques based on the part of the body to be treated and the desired effect (Pile, Microblading, shaded, filler and corrective or dotted).

Women love it because with semi-permanent make-up it is possible to fill in the eyebrows, make an eye-liner or a flawless smudge-proof lip contour and even simulate blush effect and eye shadow effect on cheeks and eyes. With semi-permanent make-up, it is also possible to create "tightlining", the pencil line along the upper inner rim of the eye to define the look.
Semi-permanent make-up is a real revolution: however, many still look at this technique with suspicion because they identify it with the tattoo. In reality the differences are many, continuing to read you can discover them all!

Semi-permanent or permanent? Let's be clear

By permanent make-up we mean the tattoo. Today this technique has fallen into disuse because the impossibility of changing a feature (growing up or simply changing your mind) has made it decidedly little appellation for the female audience. While for the semi-permanent make-up the make-up artist uses hypoallergenic pigments. They are certified products, natural and reabsorbable by the skin, with a limited duration and this offers them the possibility to modify the line with the passage of time and with fashions. In the case of the tattoo, on the other hand, inks are used, indelible inks that cannot be changed. Another difference is represented by the depth reached by the pigments, compared to the tattoo, in semi-permanent makeup this is much lower. This also makes the procedure less invasive and less troublesome.
With semi-permanent make-up, the color begins to fade in 1 or 2 years, in this time the skin completely absorbs the color until the make-up becomes invisible, making it essential to refresh the make-up and retouch.

Perfect eyebrows

The redefinition of the eyebrow arch remains one of the most requested semi-permanent make-up treatments ever. The eyebrow area is very delicate and often subject to trauma and thinning, also due to frequent and aggressive hair removal. Once you have identified the perfect technique and shape for your face, as if by magic, you proceed to redesign the eyebrows with microblanding techniques or a faded effect, in a completely natural way.

And you, do you know which is the perfect shape for you?

Well defined eyes

Semi-permanent eye make-up has a lot of fans too! Usually a very popular treatment is the drawing of the lower or upper rim of the eyes with shades or with an eye liner effect. This stroke enhances the eyes of every color and makes the look incredibly fresh and magnetic. The result is very natural and blends perfectly with daily make-up. Like having freshly made up eyes at all times!

Lips in the foreground

Semi-permanent make-up is very useful for volumizing too thin lips without using the filler, or for correcting asymmetry and pigmentation problems or scars. Even on the lips it is possible to create a nice shaded contour able to harmonize perfectly with the natural color avoiding annoying smudges.

The duration and costs of semi-permanent makeup

The duration of a semi-permanent make-up is generally 1 or 2 years and can vary according to the type of skin, (it is not recommended in the case of very oily or very dry skin), the intake of specific drugs, continuous exposure to sun, atmospheric agents and UV lamps. To increase its duration, after 12 months it is possible to undergo maintenance sessions by retouching the color.

A semi-permanent make-up session lasts from 2 to 4 hours, depending on the type of work to be done. When the certified beautician injects the natural pigmentation, it may happen to feel a slight sensation of discomfort, which is very bearable. Some areas, however, require the use of an anesthetic ointment.
The cost of a first session ranges from 400 to 900 euros, while for retouching it ranges from 150 to 250 euros. In any case, always be wary of too low costs and contact only experienced professionals!

The advantages of semi-permanent make-up

Semi-permanent make-up has many advantages: it reduces the time we spend on daily make-up and also the time we spend removing make-up in the evening. It is ideal for those who play sports at a professional level, for those with spots and scars to hide or allergies to the most popular cosmetic products. It is not a solution that lasts forever but it is a trick that can be changed with the passage of time and with changing fashions.

The disadvantages of semi-permanent make-up

Surely you need to carefully evaluate the pros and cons before undergoing a semi-permanent make-up session, because it is a long-term choice, albeit not definitive. Among the disadvantages, the cost, the idea of a little annoyance to bear and the anesthesia, even if it is a local ointment, must also be included. It is usually contraindicated in the case of very young age (unless it is necessary due to obvious defects or scars), in pregnancy, during breastfeeding, in the case of skin dermatitis, for the immude and for those who take insulin or anticoagulants. Better to avoid even if you are thinking of basking in the sun on vacation: sun exposure can damage the semi-permanent make-up so it is always better to do it at least 3 weeks before leaving.
