America, England, Australia these are just some of the countries from which the 12 selected sailors of the SCA team who participate in the 2014/2015 edition of the Ocean Volvo Race come from. Each woman, chosen from hundreds of applications, is a perfect mix of physical strength. , sailing skills and personality, ideal for a team facing one of the most difficult races in the world.

Here are the 12 sailors who will sail until June 2015:

Libby Greenhalgh

For the past seven years she has worked as a meteorologist for the British junior and Olympic sailing teams. This year it was awarded the Warsash Spring Series in their class.

Sara Hastreiter

American. Despite over 40,000 miles of offshore sailing behind him (Caribbean 600, Newport Bermuda Race, IRC Nationals, New York Yacht Club Race Week), this is his first time at VOR.

Stacey Jackson

Australian. He has over 15 years of racing experience, both inshore and offshore, including the Sydney Hobart (nine times), the TP52, a Fastnet and the Mumm 30 World Championship.

Annie Lush

English. Active full-time in the Olympic circuit since 2002, she also competes in World Match Race Tour. As a matchracer, she participated in the London Olympics in the Elliott 6m category and won the women's Match Race three times.

Eloide Mettraux

Swiss. Justine's sister, she is the fourth under 30 sailor of Team SCA. He will sail alongside his sister.

Justine Mettraux

Swiss. This will be the first VOR for Justine, who has already participated in the Mini-Transat (a solo ocean crossing on a yacht) becoming the female sailor who achieved the best result in the history of the race.

Sally Barkow

American. Active on and off in the Olympic circuit for 10 years, she has taken part in several other offshore regattas.

Carolijn Brouwer

English. The only woman to have sailed solo around the world in both directions. She also holds the women's speed record of the Round Britain and Ireland Race in monohull.

Dee C Affari

Sophie Ciszek

Australian-American. Until 2012 he was a full-time member of the Open 60 crew Hugo Boss. With over 60,000 miles of navigation behind him, mainly as a bowman, he boasts several experiences on some of the most famous racing boats in the world (Maxis Wildthing, Brindabella, Shockwave).

Sam Davies

English. He is an expert solo sailor. He has participated in two Vendée Globes and has been competing in the demanding Open 60 category for 10 years.

English. She was part of Amer Sports Too, the last all-female crew to participate in the VOR. In short, he knows this regatta well.
