Royal baby: all the info on childbirth
Kate Middleton's long wait is over. In fact, yesterday afternoon, 22 July 2013, the Duchess of Cambridge gave birth to a boy. The baby was born after a labor of about ten hours and weighed 3.8 kg. The eldest son of William and Kate will occupy the third position in the line of succession to the crown, after his grandfather Charles, Prince of Wales, and his father William.
The royal baby was born at 4:24 pm local time (5:24 pm in Italy) in the Lindo maternity ward of St. Mary's hospital in London. The Duchess had entered the hospital early in the morning and gave birth to her first child with a natural, non-induced birth, as was her wish.
It was Prince William who personally broke the news to his grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II, to the whole family and to Kate's. In front of the clinic and also in Buckingham Palace the enthusiastic crowd celebrated the happy event. Subsequently, an emissary of the Royal Family, Ed Perkins, came out of the hospital with the medical bulletin indicating the characteristics of the baby and then exhibited it on a pedestal in front of Buckingham Palace.
"A wonderful child, a beautiful child," said gynecologist Marcus Setchell, also a doctor of Queen Elizabeth II herself. Prince William instead reported that he couldn't be happier than he is now, while Grandpa Carlo said that "becoming a grandparent is an extraordinary moment in everyone's life, as so many people have told me recently, and so I am extraordinarily happy and proud to be a grandfather for the first time and can't wait to see the little one shortly.
The comments of British Prime Minister David Cameron also arrived: "An important moment in the life of our nation, but above all a fantastic moment for a warm and loving couple", this was declared via the Twitter social network.
