The robot-caregiver for the elderly has arrived

Caring for the elderly is one of our society's priorities (or at least it should be). And it is precisely of them that the scholars of the "Institute of Biorobotics of the Scuola Superiore Sant" Anna of Pisa, coordinators of the European project "Robot Era", thought. Three types of robotic systems were presented (Coro, Doro and Oro), capable of performing various domestic tasks and successfully tested by 70 elderly people from the Pisan province. The goal is to continue to perfect these robot-caregivers by 2015, so as to entrust them to other volunteers. If all goes as planned, in a short time the elderly with some self-sufficiency problems will have a valid help, which will allow them to live in total autonomy.
