Farewell to Lawrence of Arabia

The legendary Irish actor Peter O "Toole, who was awarded an Oscar for Lifetime Achievement in 2003, died in London at the age of 81 and following a long illness.

The actor, best known for his starring role in the film Lawrence of Arabia, had been nominated for Best Actor several times, failing to grab any awards, so much so that he held the record for the most nominations without any win.

In 1962 the actor got his first BAFTA nomination - precisely for his portrayal of T.E. Lawrence -, followed by 3 Golden Globe nominations (including Best Actor for The winter lion) and one at the Emmy Awards for his supporting role in Joan of Arc.

The announcement came directly from his manager, Steve Kenis and the news was published in both the American and British media.
