In September we find ourselves facing the choice of the sporting activity to be practiced in the winter months which, in case you opt for indoor courses, inevitably also brings with it that of the gym: there are those who have been going to the same structure for years, so much so that it can be considered a "second home", there are those who change every year failing to cross the threshold of three months of attendance, and this is mostly the case of the "lazy" who find 1000 excuses to skip the commitment made at the time.

As everyone knows, physical activity is good as long as it is carried out consistently. It is therefore essential to regularly attend the gym to make training more effective and results more timely.

Here are the useful tips to know to return to the gym after the summer and overcome laziness by choosing the right structure.

The importance of choices

  • The gym must be "comfortable"; it would be perfect if it were located on the way home - work: having to travel extra kilometers, in the long run, can become a reason for abandonment. The same result is obtained if, when you move by car, your gym has no parking: driving around in traffic for 10 minutes without being able to find it is an excellent deterrent.
  • Then choose a "bright" and spacious gym: a dark environment darkens and certainly does not stimulate its attendance.
  • Before signing up for a subscription, ask to visit the facility and during the tour take a look, as well as the gym, at the cleanliness. Take this opportunity to exchange a few words with your guide, if the visit has left you with some doubts, take your time and maybe try another one.

If the choice of gym is important, the activity to be carried out is even more so.

  • Opt for something that you really like, do not get carried away by fashions or the passions of friends, otherwise, failure would be guaranteed.
  • If you know you are not very constant, registration to attend the weight room is prohibited: the "freedom" of being able to always go will soon turn into an excuse to never go. Instead, sign up for a group course, the instructor will be able to motivate you and keep your attention alive by varying the exercises while your classmates will encourage you to present yourself to all the lessons on time.
  • Pay attention to the timetables: choose the ones that are most comfortable for your daily routine.
  • Finally, never go home after a day of work planning to go out again to go to the gym: the result of the challenge between the sofa and fatigue is obvious.

The frequency

Don't get caught up in the heat of the beginning, don't go to the gym every day, doing physical activity must be a pleasant appointment, not a job.

Many people believe that four hours of training give more results than one hour; if theoretically it could be true, in practice it is not: better one work session done well than four performed without commitment.

Furthermore, those who stay in the gym for a long time abandon it quickly, for an effect similar to that of food indigestion.

Don't give in to laziness

There will certainly be a day when you don't want to go to the gym because you will be lazy, try not to skip the appointment, you will see that after the lesson you will be satisfied that you have gone.

Once you have made the choices, gym, course, time and frequency, you have to draw a line in the agenda and make the lessons an appointment that you cannot miss, except in exceptional cases.

By following these simple rules, adding a little good will, you will be able to start a course and follow it consistently to the end.
