The chores for children are an activity that has several advantages. Mainly they serve to stimulate the imagination and creativity, as well as the memory and attention of the child.
Here are the top 5 benefits to consider:

  • Activate attention and concentration: concentration is something very difficult for children. Therefore, we must accustom them from an early age to be patient and to concentrate on what they are doing. Painting, for example, helps to improve concentration, especially in the little ones who still do not know how to paint following the edges of a figure. With this type of work and also with others, children will increase their imagination.
  • Develop creativity and imagination: when children are dedicated to chores they have to stop and think about what result they want to achieve. Therefore, they have to think about the colors they will use, the materials, etc. All of this stimulates their creativity and imagination, and is a lot of fun!
  • Stimulates the memory: dedicating a few hours a day to the realization of chores, in addition to stimulating creativity, is good for the memory and the brain. This trains your memory by thinking about how it should do it, what steps to follow, etc.
  • It increases self-esteem and self-confidence: if the child has confidence in himself, he will be a successful person. If, on the other hand, the child has low self-esteem, it will be necessary to work to build his confidence. There are two games and jobs. activities suitable for this purpose, as they help children to learn their skills and qualities.
  • Helping to socialize: Dedicating a chore alone or in a group helps children develop self-control and conflict resolution as well. Getting them to participate in group chores will show them what teamwork is like!

Chores for children to do around the house

Bookmarks
Who doesn't know how to use a bookmark? For adults as well as children, they are ideal! Also, if your child enters the world of reading, it is the perfect time! We will explain step by step how you can create your own bookmarks.

What material do you need?

  • Colored eva rubber
  • A pair of scissors
  • Eva colored rubber sticks. They are just like ice cream sticks, but flexible.
  • Silicone
  • Colored felt fabrics and buttons
  • Animated eyes

How to do them?
1. To begin, take the eva rubber sticks of the colors you want to use. As you can see in the photo, in the case of the horse, we will use brown, or in the case of the chicken, we will use white. Then we paint over them, depending on how we want to decorate them. If, for example, you want your bookmark to be a cow, we will paint the black spots on the white eva rubber stick.
2. While we let the eva rubber sticks dry, take the scissors and cut the fabrics with the shapes we want to give them. We can make small animal ears, whiskers .... it all depends on the animal you want to create!
3. Once the sticks are dry, we glue the fabric scraps onto the sticks, giving them the shape of the animal we want to make. You can be inspired by the photo below!
4. When you have the eva rubber sticks ready, we also glue the animated eyes with silicone. And you have your bookmarks! Easy, right?

Fridge magnets
Take advantage of children's crafts to create magnets to stick on the fridge. They will add a pop of color to the kitchen, and can even be kept for review when the kids are grown up.

What material do you need?

  • A shell
  • A silicone gun to use as a glue
  • Colorful painting
  • Animated eyes
  • Colored cardboard or cardboard
  • Colored kraft paper threads with thread
  • A magnet

How to do them?
1. First of all, we will paint the shell with colors. If you want to make the crab, you will have to paint it red or, in the case of the turtle, you will have to paint it green. We advise you to take a piece of paper to place the shells in order not to stain the table. Then, let them dry.
2. While the shells dry, we will cut the wires from the kraft paper to create the crab legs and give it the shape we want.
3. Then, once the shell is dry, we take a white cardboard, for example, and put the shell on the cardboard to draw its silhouette. When we have it, we take the scissors and cut it carefully.
4. After that, we glue the metal threads with which we created the crab legs to the bottom of the shell.
5. When we are sure that the legs are well glued, we take the cut from the shape of the shell and, with the silicone gun, we also glue it on the shell with great care. Then we let it dry for 10 minutes.
6. We take the magnet and attach it to the cardboard part of the crab, then attach the animated eyes to the top of the shell. We let everything dry and you have your fridge magnets!

Do-it-yourself theater
Among the ideas and creative games, there are some related to the Carnival party, a moment that will combine creativity, fun and historical learning. Here's how to make a beautiful DIY cardboard theater with traditional Italian carnival masks: Pulcinella, Arlecchino and Colombina.
This Carnival job is perfect for children attending primary school and can be customized by inserting the shapes of different masks ready to print and cut out.

What material do you need?

  • Carton box
  • Carnival masks to print (small version)
  • Carnival masks to print (large version)
  • Colored paper napkins
  • Glitter cardstock
  • Pipe cleaner or ribbon
  • Long toothpicks
  • Scotch tape
  • Glue
  • Scissors
  • Pencil
  • Ruler

How do you proceed?
After choosing the masks (Arlecchino, Colombina and Pulcinella) print the shapes in a large or small version according to the size of your theater, cut them out and attach them to a long toothpick.
Let's now pass to the creation of the actual theater using a box with a decorated bottom. With the help of a ruler and pencil, let's mark the edges to be cut on the lid: the lid will form the front of the stage, that is the frame within which the masks will move. Now let's position the box vertically and create an opening along the top that we will need to insert the masks and move them easily using the toothpicks.
To reproduce the classic curtains and draperies of the theater, we need red paper napkins to fold in order to create a curtain effect.
All that remains is to insert the traditional Carnival masks ready to tread the scene and interact with each other with a pinch of imagination!

Egg cup for Easter
For the Easter party you can create a special egg cup with your child, a little hen and a little egg cup. The idea behind this egg cup is that of recycling, in fact it is built with cardboard boxes that contain supermetcated eggs and which are generally thrown away.
But this is not the case, because precisely with the tips of the cardboard that divide one egg from the other, we can make the body of the hen.
After making it, the egg cup will be ready to welcome the Easter eggs colored with a thousand different techniques: simply putting them to boil with food coloring or enclosed in pantyhose stockings with leaves, or even painting them with tempera.
But let's see how it's done.

Materials:

  • egg carton pack
  • red and orange felt
  • little eyes dancers
  • hot glue
  • feathers

Method

  • cut out the hen's crest and a heart from the red felt. From the orange felt instead, we will obtain a small rhombus that will be the beak.
  • cut out the tip of the cardboard container, including the back part, the one that contained the egg.
  • with hot glue fix the ridge on the tip.
  • on the front glue the little ballet eyes and just below the little heart.
  • between the eyes and the heart, look at the rhombus folded in half which will be the beak
  • place the colored Easter egg in the space provided ... the egg cup is ready!

Serpentelli with pasta
Pasta is a winning idea for jobs suitable for the little ones of the house: it has the advantage of being familiar to the child, it can be colored and the thousand different shapes allow you to have fun creating anything. For pasta serpentelli, you will need colored or natural tubular pasta, an elastic band, colored crepe paper, red colored noodles.
Method
First, decide together if you want to color the pasta or leave it natural. After making two knots at one end of the elastic, larger than the hole in the dough, your child can begin to thread the pieces of dough; obtained the desired length, you can close the body of the snake with another knot. Then help him make the head with crepe paper or a small piece of fabric in the shape of a double folded rhombus. There he will be able to draw the eyes, fix them with vinyl glue and finally, connect the head to the body.
