Who is Adriano Panzironi and how he created Life 120

Let's start from the basics: Adriano Panzironi (Rome, 1972) is not a doctor, he is not a dietician, he is not a nutritionist nor a biologist. Panzironi, inventor of the Life 120 diet, is a former journalist (banned from the register for spreading false information) who initially worked for Il Tempo, and then founded a publishing house with his twin brother Roberto, named Welcome Time Elevator, to publish his books such as: “Living 120 years. The truths that no one wants to tell you "; “Live 120 years. The recipes"; “Live 120 years. The searches. Research and scientific studies that confirm the truth of the book ". But he is also an entrepreneur who was able to create a diet and a business worth around 3 million euros in 2017. A former journalist who felt able to give important advice on health and nutrition on the TV channel Life 120 Channel , in the "Il cerca salute" program (later fined by "AGCOM for about 260 thousand euros), thanks to its method of living 120 years. A method that for Panzironi is able to treat very important pathologies such as psioriasis, diabetes, Crohn's disease , Alzheimer's and even cancer. How? Through a high-protein, carbohydrate-free diet, combined with supplements he created together with his brother (for a value of about 300 euros a month).

What is the Panzironi Diet?

The Panzironi Life 120 diet is a high-protein diet that almost completely banishes carbohydrates in favor of meat, eggs and fish, and is based on 3 principles: correct nutrition, correct integration, correct physical activity. The NON Dietitian Panzironi suggests abandoning the "wrong" Mediterranean diet forever, therefore everything that has been scientifically evaluated as healthy and good to date, and embarking on a food path that is close to the ketogenic or paleogenic diet, but without a prerequisite scientifically screened by doctors (the "order of doctors" in fact denounced him for abuse of the medical profession). Basically, carbohydrates and industrial and refined foods must be excluded almost entirely in favor of fats and proteins. Of course, all combined with the indispensable supplements he produces.

How does Life 120 work?

Life 120, the Panzironi diet, starts from the abandonment of the Mediterranean diet in favor of a high-protein diet oriented towards preferring proteins and fats combined with specific supplements. It is therefore necessary to prefer meat, fish and eggs and say goodbye to refined foods or carbohydrates. The method suggests eating 5 times a day, including 3 main meals and 2 snacks, and combining spices and Life120 supplements, which would be able to:

  • strengthen the immune system
  • decrease the risk of sudden death and heart attack
  • inhibit the development of some types of cancer cells.

All this according to Panzironi, of course, not supported by the medical scientific community. The supplements, which generally contain multivitamins, Omega 3, melatonin etc., cost more or less 10 euros per day, therefore around 300 euros per month.

Panzironi diet, what to eat, even for breakfast, and what to avoid

The foods allowed for this diet are as follows:

  • meat
  • fish
  • egg
  • fruit, but very little
  • "good" fats such as extra virgin olive oil, coconut oil, avocado and ghee
  • on rare occasions it is possible to eat whey or cheeses aged over 24 months
  • soy milk or almonds but not for breakfast, which must be salty
  • spices
  • unsweetened cocoa powder

Prohibited foods are:

  • legumes and peanuts
  • pasta, bread, rice, corn, cereals
  • potatoes
  • chestnuts
  • anything that contains sugars
  • milk, dairy products, yogurt, even low-fat
  • fruit, because it contains a lot of sugars

For breakfast, according to the Panzironi diet, it is recommended to eat eggs, bacon and salmon. For lunch or dinner you can eat the same foods: grilled turkey breast, eggs or cod and so on, dressed with extra green olive oil and some vegetables, but few, cooked or raw, or avocado.

For seasoning, you can use many spices such as turmeric, cinnamon and ginger. What if we feel like sweets? For a tasty snack we can create creams and desserts based on almond flour, soy or almond milk, hazelnut grains, bitter cocoa powder or 70% dark chocolate. No to fruit, to eat very sparingly, because it is too rich in sugar.

Should we trust the Panzironi Life 120 diet?

What we know for sure is that the Panzironi diet is against the Mediterranean diet, because due to the carbohydrates present in this type of diet, according to the former journalist, it can lead to important diseases. But how can this be true? We know for sure that the Mediterranean diet can be considered one of the most complete and recognized as healthy diets in the world. Of the diets currently present, from the Dunkan diet to that of rice, passing through the detox diets to the vegetarian ones, the Mediterranean has always been considered excellent and healthy. Being against these diets seems quite wrong to us, then. Nutrition certainly plays a fundamental role in the prevention of the most important diseases as well as minor pathologies. But pretending to be a pseudo-diet capable of extending life and with miraculous implications, it seems to us against everything one can believe in!
