An apple a day ... awaken your sexuality

A recent study, conducted by the Santa Chiara hospital in Trento and published on Archives of Gynecology and Obstetrics, analyzed 731 women between 18 and 43 years and came to a surprising conclusion: the apple has aphrodisiac properties and seems to be a valid aid for female sexual health.

The reason may lie in the presence of phloridazine, a compound found in the fruit and similar to the female hormone estradiol, which plays an important role in sexual arousal and vaginal lubrication.

The group of women analyzed was then divided into two, one part ate one or more apples a day and the other did not. Later all the participants were then invited to complete the Female Sexual FunctionIndex (Fsfi) test - a frequently used test. from us clinical sexologists - composed of 19 questions about sex life, including frequency and satisfaction in intercourse.

The researchers finally found that eating an apple a day is linked with higher FSFI scores, thus suggesting increased sexual pleasure in women.

Although the FSFI can be very useful for evaluating some problems related to female sexual dysfunction, it must be said that it cannot be used as a substitute for a complete evaluation of sexual function which also includes a medical examination and a thorough psycho-sexological history.

If in doubt, an apple a day certainly can't hurt ...
