26 million euros for Joan Mirò
Christie "s sold a millionaire" auction for the painting Painting Poem (le corps de ma brune) by the Catalan artist Joan Mirò.
It started from an auction base of 9 million pounds and, in a flash, reached 16 million pounds, a good 26 million euros. The experts, of course, underline that the cost was measured on the basis of "importance that this series of paintings by Mirò assumes in the history of art.
But don't think that this is the most expensive painting in the world, because that is The Card Players by Paul Cèzanne, which was recently purchased for a whopping 250 million dollars.
