Disney princesses become curvy pinups in the works of Ashley Beevers

We've never seen them do squats, run on the treadmill, or eat plain salads: yet, Disney princesses have to undergo some pretty drastic regimes to maintain physiques that even Barbie dreams of.
The Melbourne artist, Ashely Beevers, has decided to free Ariel, Tinker Bell and the others from too rigid diets and shapes, giving them a sinuous body.

Other artists have reinterpreted Walt's icons: some imagined what they would be like in reality, others what their children would be like.
Ashley's Disney princesses, however, do not strike us because they are different from how we remember them, but because they represent a femininity far from that proposed by the mannequins in the window.
Tattooed, shaggy and beautiful: they prefer a burlesque show to a ball at the palace.
