Music and controversy: are you ready for Sanremo 2020?
The countdown for the first evening of the 70th Sanremo festival has long begun and Italy is divided into two: die-hard fans who are ready to spend five evenings on the sofa armed with smartphones to comment with a tweet or a post on facebook all the highlights of the event.
The other half of the peninsula is the one that pushes the hashtag #boycottsanremo and cannot wait to complain (or continue to do so) about who looks at Sanremo, about who presents, about who sings and about the festival fees.
But first let's retrace the story of one of the most loved Italian singers in Sanremo and beyond:

Let's talk right away about what we care about most: women!
And if at first we were curious to hear the songs of the protagonists of the event, after the Amadeus press conference everything changed.
The presenter of the 70th festival presented one by one, in that venue, the women who will accompany him during the review, labeling them all as "beautiful who do not dance" making feminist consciences jump with the phrase "has the ability to stay one step behind her man" referred to Francesca Sofia Novello, Valentino Rossi's girlfriend.
From that moment the spirit of sexism accusations has hovered over the entire festival. From the politically incorrect releases of Amadeus, to the protest against Junior Cally, the rapper who sings femicide (and no, he doesn't do it for denunciation) to the thorny question of pink quote pulled out of the Levant, immediately retorted by the super feminist writer Michela Murgia.
According to the Sicilian singer, in fact, it is useless to talk about pink quotas because the singers who will participate in the festival will do it for merit.
But the Murgia disagrees and takes Levante back, pointing out that female talent is often underestimated and that the women's odds are basically the first step towards equality.

There are those who still do not resign themselves to the fact that Domenico Modugno, Mia Martini and Califano, together with those who have made the history of Italian music but also of Sanremo, are no longer there.
Although in Sanremo there is always room for older (and loved) artists, most of the artists competing are young people who perfectly reflect the current music scene in Italy.
