2. Honey as a home remedy

When it comes to colds, honey is a real all-rounder. Whether in tea, candy or straight from the spoon, honey has been used as a remedy since ancient times and is an excellent ally for fighting sore throats.

New Zealand Manuka honey is said to be particularly effective as a remedy for sore throat and pharyngitis, as it contains a lot methylglycoxal, which has an antibacterial effect. When combined with hot drinks, this natural food is beneficial and soothing.

3. Apple cider vinegar with expectorant effect

Apple cider vinegar has proven its worth as a mucolytic agent. Hippocrates is said to have already used apple cider vinegar as a home remedy. How does it work? Throat mucus decomposes and germs no longer have a chance to spread.

Put one or two tablespoons in a cup of warm water. Take a small sip and gargle. Repeat the application three times a day.

4. Fighting the mucus in the throat with anise

Anise is also said to have an antibacterial effect. In addition, the medicinal plant is effective against phlegm in the throat and makes it easier to cough. The fruits of anise can be used to make a soothing tea or inhalation decoction. Crush half a teaspoon or a teaspoon of aniseed and pour over 200 ml of hot water.

6. Mucus in the throat: eliminate it with ginger

Ginger is able to heat from the inside creating a pleasant heat effect. Contains gingerol effective against inflammation and throat mucus. Cut a few slices of fresh ginger, put them in a cup and pour hot water over them. Leave to steep for about 5 minutes. You can add fresh lemon or honey for a delicious taste. Drink hot ginger tea in small sips.

Some choose to remove the slices from the water before drinking, but remember: the longer the ginger stays in the water, the more intense the flavor will be.

Mucus in the throat without a cold: what's behind it?
