Giorgio Faletti died

Giorgio Faletti, successful writer, comedian and singer died today in Turin at the age of 63. Faletti had been ill for some time.

His career has been one of the most eclectic in Italy: from his beginnings as a stand-up comedian, which had led him to television success especially with Drive In, To success as a singer and writer. His comic characters remain in the memory a Drive In, like the policeman Vito Catozzo or Sister Daliso.

In 1988 he approaches the world of music, first with the soundtrack of the miniseries White collars, which sees him as the protagonist, then with the landing on the most important stage of Italian song, the Sanremo Festival, in which he participates three times, in 1992 with Orietta Berti, with whom he sings Rumba by Tango, in 1994 with Lieutenant, discussed and loved song inspired by the mafia massacres that killed judges Falcone and Borsellino, and in 1995 with The absurd job.

In 2002 Faletti still surprises everyone by making his debut as a writer with the thriller I kill, long-discussed best seller. At the end of that year he suffered a stroke fortunately without consequences. In 2004 he returned to bookstores with Nothing real except the eyes. After Out of an obvious destiny, in 2006, publishes I am God, of 2009. As always, he alternates with the publication of novels the writing of songs, and even participation in films, such as Night before exams, where he plays a ruthless literature teacher who earned him a David di Donatello nomination.

His latest fictional novels date back to 2010, with Notes of a women salesman, and to 2011, with Three acts and two times, set in the world of football.
