NLP

What is NLP?
NLP, or Neuro Linguistic Programming, was invented about 30 years ago by two Californian scholars. This technique is part of the new methods through which psychology is confronted with everyday life. Similar to an applied psychology that points to the analysis of personal development, it provides practical tools in order to improve communication, self-confidence, personal development and conflict management.
NLP is based on the following hypothesis: every behavior can be traced back to a model, learned and changed. NLP therefore has the purpose of reprogramming the brain to infuse it with new potential. And, as evidenced by the name itself, it acts above all on communication skills. It is therefore a question of identifying our wrong behaviors and reflexes, to replace them with more positive actions. This allows us to improve our ability to negotiate, learn, train, communicate, evolve, choose, direct and direct ourselves, get to know each other. NLP is therefore organized into real "instructions for the use" of the brain.

For who?
NLP is widely used in companies, where it supports employees and managers and helps them adapt to change. It therefore allows employees to communicate better, salespeople to sell better and managers to manage better. High-level athletes and teachers also use it. Among the education professionals there are many who use this tool to enrich their method and improve their exchanges with children ..
But NLP has been able to extend its influence beyond the working world and aims to improve family and couple life through therapy. It also allows you to improve problems related to phobias or maladjusted behaviors. In practice, NLP allows you to face a specific situation, a concrete problem to be overcome through a series of rules.

How is it formed?
You can train yourself, thanks to one of the various books that exist on the subject. They are often well done and full of exercises. The only problem is that it is difficult to improve one's relational qualities alone!
Otherwise, you can contact a psychotherapist trained in the teaching of NLP. You will establish with him the goal to be achieved, generally in about ten sessions. There are also some accelerated training stages, proposed by various organizations.

How much?
An NLP session can cost between € 45 and € 100.
There is no "NLP" diploma: you have to get an idea for yourself about the seriousness and skills of those who practice it.

Some tools of NLP

Eye movements To put it simply, the eyes go upward when we think of an image, to the right or left when we lose to a sound, downward when we think of an emotion. For a right-handed: the interlocutor's eyes go to our right when he tells a true past event that he remembers well; and to our left when it imagines, invents or mentally reconstructs the past.
Beware, these movements can be controlled by actors and politicians.

Channels of communication Our relationship with the world passes through the five senses, but each of us has a specific way of communication that favors one or two. A "visual" is defined as a person who favors the sense of sight to organize his experience and to communicate. It is expressed through a vocabulary linked to vision: "I see well that ...", "it is evident".
An "auditory", on the other hand, favors auditory perceptions. Associate a phone number with a melody, for example, and use a vocabulary full of words related to hearing "I feel that ...". Kinesthetics use their physical perception (movements, postures, tastes and smells) to organize their experience and relate to the world. Their vocabulary is based on these lexical fields: "I felt that ...", "I perceive ...".

Synchronization of movements If you do the same movements or behave in the same way as your interlocutor, they will find you more and more sympathetic and interesting.

Anchoring The anchoring procedure consists in associating an emotion with an external stimulus (hearing, sight, smell, touch, taste). The mere existence of the stimulus is enough to bring back the whole experience! The most famous example is that of Proust's Magdalene.

To know
- NLP does not replace a classic therapy, if this is necessary, but it can be used to complete it.
- In NLP, a therapy must not last more than six months: after this period of time, those who practice NLP must direct the patient to another more suitable professional.
- The therapeutic value of NLP has never been scientifically recognized. According to its detractors, NLP oversimplifies far more complex concepts.
