Sex for 3 out of 4 couples is affected by menopause

Sexuality after the doors is a problem for more than 4 out of 10 women. The somewhat disheartening result emerged from the European research promoted by DEKA, the manufacturer of the MonaLisa Touch laser treatment, and conducted on 4000 couples.

One of the major female problems during menopause is vaginal atrophy which often turns into pain during sexual intercourse. This condition involves a reduction in lubrication, a progressive loss of elastic fibers and collagen and a lower defense against infections. The partner may in turn be affected by this situation, and experience erection, ejaculation and even desire problems, but above all he may feel rejected in intimacy, sometimes without understanding why.

It is therefore important to share these disorders with your partner because HE wants to be involved: 84% of partners want to be informed of the symptoms of vaginal atrophy, 27% do not feel comfortable talking about it but, at the same time, 39% he feels upset if the woman does not address the subject.

From HER's point of view, about 20% of women do not talk about vaginal symptoms related to menopause with their partner because they believe they are part of the normal phenomena of aging, they feel embarrassed, they think they are things for women and that the partner would not understand. In 40% of cases, try "do-it-yourself" treatments (for example lubricants) before addressing the topic.
