Thai massage

The origin

The practice of Thai massage dates back to over 2,500 years ago, thanks to Shivago Komarpaj, a doctor from northern India and friend of Buddha, who was the inventor. Thanks to the geographical situation of Thailand, which is located between China and the " India, this massage has been influenced by many oriental currents: Ayurveda (Indian medicine), traditional Chinese medicine and Buddhist philosophy. Long erroneously associated with the erotic practices of the Bangkok brothels, this technique, with therapeutic virtues comparable to those of plants or meditation, is now finally put in value in the numerous spas and massage centers that practice it in Thailand and in the West.

> Thai massage aims to become aware of the body, from an anatomical point of view (tendons, joints, muscles, organs and body fluids), energetic (similar to the meridians of Chinese medicine) and mental (well-being of the spirit, emotional balance) . These three systems, each with its own balance, cannot be dissociated: there is "a" permanent interaction between matter, energy and emotions. It is by acting on these three systems that the masseur will act on physical and mental relaxation.

The ritual

Nuad Borarn is practiced wearing loose, soft and comfortable clothes, usually on the floor, on a thin mattress covered with a silk fabric. This massage combines yoga positions, stretching, and kneading and pressure movements. The masseur, very physically involved in his task, almost does a hand-to-hand with the client (he uses his hands and fingers, but also his elbows, knees, feet ...): he also stretches and strengthens himself at the same time as his patient. It is a cycle of give and take. Although this massage is a decisive technique, which reaches deep, all the movements are elastic and act on the whole body, with continuity, from the feet to the head.

The benefits

Particularly complete, this massage aims to give well-being by restoring the initial balance. The action of the kneading improves blood circulation, softens the tissues, eliminates toxins and relaxes the muscles. The pressure points, yoga positions and stretching relax, attenuate muscle knots, and restore the circulation of energy within the body. Well-being is both physical and mental at the same time. The massaged person experiences intense physical well-being, immense mental relaxation, and regains energy.
