To prepare tasty fried frappe which, as we have seen, make up the original recipe for this typical Carnival dessert, you will need the following ingredients:

  • 7 tablespoons of sugar
  • 1 liqueur glass of white wine
  • 1 glass of milk
  • 50 grams of lard
  • zest of 1 lemon
  • 2 eggs
  • pinch of salt
  • flour to taste
  • sunflower oil for frying
  • powdered sugar for sprinkling

Combine all the ingredients in a bowl, then start adding flour until you get a dough with a consistency similar to that of egg pasta. At this point, cover everything and let it rest for half an hour.

Roll out the dough into a very thin layer, bring the oil to temperature (180 °) and fry 2-3 pieces at a time, so as not to drop the temperature of the oil and be able to manage the frying well. Drain the excess oil and sprinkle with powdered sugar. Voila, that's it!

The recipe for baked frappe

Baked Carnival frappes are certainly no less tasty and, although not as traditional, they are lighter and somehow healthier. Here are the ingredients you need to prepare them:

  • 50 g of butter
  • 500 g of flour
  • 3 whole eggs and 1 yolk
  • 70 g sugar
  • 30 g grappa
  • 6 g of baking powder for cakes
  • 1 pinch of fine salt
  • 1 vanilla pod
  • icing sugar to taste

Sift the flour together with the baking powder, then add sugar, salt, previously beaten eggs and grappa. Work everything until you get a homogeneous "amalgam. Then add the seeds of the vanilla pod and the butter and continue to knead for about ten minutes. Wrap the dough in a film and let it rest for half an hour, then divide the dough into portions. about 150 g and flatten them one by one. With a jagged wheel you can help you to make rectangles of the desired proportions.

Make two carvings in the center of each frappa, then place them in a baking tray with parchment paper. Bake in a preheated oven at 190 ° for 10 minutes, take out and sprinkle with icing sugar.

  • 1 vanilla bean
  • 520 g of flour
  • 50 g of butter
  • 4 eggs
  • ½ sachet of baking powder
  • 20 g of grappa
  • A pinch of salt
  • One lemon
  • 1000 g of peanut oil

Start by pulverizing the sugar and seeds from the vanilla pod for 20 seconds at speed 10.
