How to curb the craving for sweet?

Increase your protein intake. Often our body will express the lack of protein with the desire for sweet. It is a good habit to take a walk instead of eating dessert. If, after ten minutes, you still want something sweet, gargle with mouthwash or brush your teeth with toothpaste. The aftertaste they leave does not go well with desserts and the craving will probably pass quickly. Get Gymnema Sylvestre leaves and chew them for a long time. In the hours that follow, anything that doesn't have sugar will taste better than something sweet. Find distractions. By keeping your "attention on something else", you will quickly forget about your cravings. Watch a TV show, read a book, dance to your favorite song, play an instrument or take a nap and you'll forget the snack you wanted to eat. Replace sweets with fruit. The sugar contained in it is digested differently than the empty calories in white sugar. Fruit contains healthy fiber, vitamins, minerals, enzymes and phytonutrients, all of which help counteract the caloric effects of fructose and glucose on metabolism. The fibers in fruit also slow down the absorption of sugars by reducing the glycemic jump. Look for quality and not quantity. Eat a small piece of dark chocolate with 70% cocoa instead of a candy. Eat a spoonful of homemade ice cream instead of one whole pack of diet ice cream. The food will be more satisfying and you will ingest less sugar in the long run. Read the labels. You may be surprised at how much sugar the foods you eat contain. Being aware of the sugar content of foods can help you avoid the ones that are worse for you.

If the main temptation is called chocolate

How to satisfy the palate without risking to put on kilos because of your main passion - chocolate? We suggest two tricks.

  • Trick n ° 1: cut any type of fruit (strawberries, bananas, pineapple or melon) into small pieces and dip them in a cup in which you have melted some chocolate. Warning: we said to dip them, not pour them in… As a result, you will get the taste of chocolate and the nutritional value of fruit, without adding too many calories to your diet.

  • Trick n ° 2: treat yourself to a square or two of soft dark chocolate (the milk one is more caloric) and you will get two results: you will satisfy the taste and you will also stock up on antioxidants.

If you are craving cream, ice cream or pudding

  • If you prefer creams, a fruit or low-fat yogurt can satisfy your sweet tooth, to which you can add a little honey and chopped fresh fruit. Is pudding your weakness? Treat yourself to the package that you would put in your child's backpack for a snack.

  • If, on the other hand, your passion is ice cream, avoid buying the “family pack” and focus on those in the “bonbon” version.

Four ways to turn fruit into dessert

If fruit only evokes images of healthy food, but not tasty, here are some suggestions that might make you think again:

  • Pour a little honey on a few melon balls.
  • Mix the banana and strawberries together, fill the ice cubes with this mix and place them in the freezer. When they are frozen, take them out and consume them as if they were ice cream.
  • Roast or sauté half a banana and sprinkle with chopped peanuts.
  • Choose three different qualities of berries. Cook half of it with a little water to prevent them from burning.
  • Let it cool and add the other half. Now, fill half a cup with the mixture you have prepared and add a spoonful of vanilla ice cream.
