If until recently the only way to intervene was to undergo a liposuction or a liposculpture, with consequent discomfort and complications due to the necessary invasive surgery, now there is a new method that promises to intervene on the most fat. obstinate, but without surgery, anesthesia, hospitalization, risks or post-operative pain.

We are talking about the CoolSculpting by ZELTIQ® Aesthetics, a non-surgical, invasive and painless procedure, based on the patented Freeze Detect technology (CE class lla and approved by the FDA), which acts on the subcutaneous fat cells without any effect on the skin.

CoolScuplting: how it was born

The CoolSculpting treatment developed by ZELTIQ is based on the solid scientific basis of Cryolipolysis®. Cryolipolysis is the result of a groundbreaking discovery by two American scientists, Dr. Dieter Manstein and Dr. R. Rox Anderson of the Wellman Center for Photomedicine at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, an educational institution associated with Harvard Medical School.

Their first work, previewed in the peer-reviewed professional journal Lasers in Surgery and Medicine, showed that subcutaneous fat cells are naturally more vulnerable to the effects of cold than surrounding tissues.

These studies and other clinical researches developed have confirmed that fat cells exposed to controlled cooling for a certain period of time undergo a gradual reduction, which leads to cell death through a treatment called "induced apoptosis".

ZELTIQ is currently the exclusive licensee of this patented technology and therefore the only company that can offer cryolipolysis treatments.

CoolScuplting: what it consists of

The CoolSculpting procedure is carried out by means of a machine that emits - in a safe and controlled way - a targeted cooling to the subcutaneous fat cells that are crystallized (frozen) and die. During the treatment, the affected area is treated with a layer of gel and a vacuum applicator that sucks the fabric inside the cooling panels.

During the sessions, each of which lasts about an hour, you may initially feel a sensation of intense cold, which will pass as soon as the area goes numb, sensations of stretching or slight tingling, but nothing unbearable - we tried it! - and in the meantime it is possible to relax by reading a book or chatting with a friend.

At the end of the procedure, a reactivating massage is performed which restores the sensitivity of the treated areas and in the following hours it is possible to experience some small bruises and some redness; nothing painful or disabling, so much so that you can immediately return to your daily life without the need for rest or hospitalization.

CoolSculpting: who can do it and who can't

Over 1 million CoolSculpting treatments have already been done worldwide, however not everyone can undergo this procedure.

In particular, it should not be done in case of:
- Pregnancy / breastfeeding;
- Circulatory problems;
- Neuropathic disorders;
- Abdominal hernias;
- Cryoglobulinemia;
- Vasculopathies;
- Pacemaker;
- Defibrillators;
- Dermatological diseases.

CoolSculpting: the results

The results of the CoolSculpting procedure are fully visible after about 3 months, the time it takes for the body to dispose of the dead fat cells. In this phase you can help yourself by drinking more water, following a balanced diet and not neglecting physical activity.

In the gallery below some pictures of the before and after the treatment.

CoolSculpting: how much does it cost

Indicatively, the cost of a one-hour session of CoolSculpting is 600 euros, but the aesthetic doctor who will meet you in the preliminary phase will prepare a plan based on your specific needs and based on the number of areas on which to intervene and the cost can therefore decrease if the sessions to be carried out will be more than one.
