Meanwhile, to carry you forward, and as a rule that always applies, and not only on World Water Day, here are 10 tips to save and respect the most precious asset we have!

1. When brushing your teeth use a glass

When you brush your teeth, and you have to do the last rinse, use a glass to measure out the water. And above all, open and close the tap to rinse the toothbrush. In this way you will use only 2 liters of water, while if you let it flow you would consume at least 9!

2. Turn off the tap when you soap yourself

Do not open the tap completely when you wash your hands: just a drop of water is enough. When your dad or your partner shaves his beard, tell him to fill a basin: in this way he will only consume 4 liters of water.

3. Install the aerators to the taps

Aerators are devices that reduce the flow of water by half. Incredibly, although the flow is reduced, the jet will seem stronger since the air is mixed with the outgoing water. It will be possible to reduce the consumption of a family of 4 people by up to over 1,000 liters per month. A low-flow aerator is inexpensive (around 3 or 4 euros) and can be found in any hardware or plumbing shop.

4. Don't stay too long in the shower ...

... and don't overfill the bathtub. An average of 30-50 liters is consumed for the shower, while almost 150 liters for the bathroom. An aerator should also be installed in the shower.

5. Watch out for dripping taps

Get the dripping taps fixed immediately, otherwise you will waste 5 liters of water a day!

6. Do not wash the fruit under running water

To wash fruit or vegetables, just fill a basin. Do not open the tap for a long time to get fresher water: just keep two bottles in the refrigerator.

7. Wash dishes and dishes in a basin

If you use a basin for washing dishes, you will use about 20 liters of water, saving at least 90! Remember that the cooking water for pasta is also great for washing dishes.

8. Use dishwasher and washing machine only with full loads

When you do your washing in the dishwasher or washing machine, wait until they are fully charged. Choose the "economic" or "eco" washing program. For 90 ° washes do not use the prewash and remember: the washing machine uses 90 to 160 liters for each wash cycle.

9.Water the plants early in the morning or in the evening

If you have a garden, remember that in summer it is good to water the plants early in the morning or in the evening: this way you avoid the water evaporating before reaching the roots. The flowers should be wet with the watering cans and not with the rubber hose. For shrubs and plants, shower systems can be used: small amounts of water are introduced, but at a constant rate. Avoid overwatering, but only when needed. Leave the cut leaves on the ground, in order to prevent the lawn from drying out in periods of drought. This will reduce the use of water to irrigate it.

10. Wash your car at a self service station

Washing the car at the self service will save a lot of water. Washing it with a rubber hose consumes more than 400 liters.
