What to replace acetone with

First, find the right product from the ones you have at home. Your first choice must fall on denatured alcohol or products that contain it. In fact, your perfume, hand sanitizer gel, spray deodorant, disinfectant and even hairspray could be right for you. If you really don't have any of these products at home, you could fall back on alcohol as long as it is transparent and with a high alcohol content, such as vodka, gin or grappa. If you have a strictly white toothpaste at home, you can try to remove the nail polish by brushing a small amount of product with an old toothbrush or paper tissue. If you really do not succeed in your intent you can try with a paint thinner: however, remember to use it in a ventilated environment and to do a tolerability test on a small area before proceeding with all the nails.

How to proceed

Dip your hands for at least 10 minutes in the chosen product and then complete the result by scratching off the nail polish with your other fingers and helping yourself with a file. Always be careful because these are alternative and emergency methods that may take time and much more than an application: proceed slowly and gradually to avoid damaging the nail. Repeat the operation until the result is complete. Instead of cotton balls, opt for paper handkerchiefs: they will be much more resistant!

Enamel on enamel

Another way to remove the nail polish without acetone is to use another nail polish. Choose a dense nail polish that does not dry too quickly, better if it is a darker color. A top coat that usually dries slower than nail polish might also work!
Applying a new nail polish will soften the old one which will be so much easier to remove.
Proceed like this: apply a state of enamel and remove it immediately with a paper handkerchief. If you move quickly you will be able to pull off a good part of the old color as well. Do you notice any residues? Proceed with a new application and then pull everything off with the paper tissue. Don't use cotton: cotton balls lose fiber and you risk making a real mess!

Ever tried with olive oil?

Maybe you've never thought about it, but a good idea might be to try olive oil. Pour the oil on a cotton ball, let it act for 5 minutes and then remove the product. Even with this method, the result will not be perfect but you will have the certainty of not damaging the nail which, on the contrary, will be more beautiful than ever!

Oops, there are glitter!

If you don't have acetone at home and your nail polish contains glitter, the situation becomes more complicated because removing it will be even more challenging. In fact, it is not easy to eliminate glitter glazes even in the presence of a good solvent. You can still try one of the methods already listed but be careful not to rub too much or you will seriously risk damaging your nails.

A brilliant idea

To facilitate the removal of glitter polish, you can get into the habit of preparing a mixture of glue and water to spread on the nail before each application of glitter polish. Let the mixture of water and vinyl glue dry, then proceed to apply the glaze. The nail polish will stick to the hardened glue, not the nails and it will be much easier to remove it later. In fact, you just need to soak your nails in warm soapy water to soften it considerably. Then it will be easy to peel it off with a cuticle stick!

Semi-permanent nail polish: how to do it?

If you have semi permanent nail polish it will be really difficult to remove it without a suitable solvent but you can always give it a try. One of the least invasive ways to remove semi-permanent nail polish in the absence of acetone is to apply, one nail at a time, a top coat polish and then rub it with cotton (insist, it will take you a little force to send it Street). To simplify the operation, you can help yourself with hair spray: spray it on the nail, while trying to remove the nail polish with the top coat. The lacquer will help dissolve the nail polish even in the absence of a remover!

We advise you not to scrape off the semi-permanent nail polish with a large file because without realizing it you could heavily damage the surface layers of the nail.
