Collect whites
Choose the right detergent
Since blue increases the impression of white, the best solution is to use a powder detergent enriched with optical brighteners, substances that dye the fabric thanks to a blue or purple dye. You can also simply add a whitener to your usual detergent
Good to know: don't forget to separate the whites from the colored ones! If you wash the sheets together with dark clothes, you will see that in the long run they will turn gray!

To reinforce the illusion of white, add pieces of blue chalk to the rinse compartment of the washing machine. Before doing the washing machine, you can also soak the whites in a basin containing hot water and chemical yeast.
Another trick is to add a glass of hydrogen peroxide or 500 grams of baking soda to the rinse water. You can also put two tablespoons of sodium percarbonate or sodium crystals in the washing machine drum, but in this case you have to halve the amount of detergent and use a program that does not exceed 40 °. Start the washing cycle and stop it after half an hour. Soak your clothes for at least 8 hours and then restart the cycle.
The special cases
- Yellowed white items
The only solution is to immerse the whites in a container containing 15 liters of cold water and 20 ml of bleach. Leave them to soak for 15 minutes and then rinse.
- White woolen items
Woolen garments are particularly delicate and you must therefore wash them very carefully, otherwise you risk damaging them irreparably. Soak them in a basin containing 2 quantities of hydrogen peroxide per 16 quantities of water, then rinse and wash them as you usually do.
- White nylon items
Leave them to soak for at least half an hour in a container containing 10 liters of boiling water, 9 cl of bleach and 18 cl of dishwasher detergent.
