Cannes 2014: Alice Rohrwacher's Italian women's triumph

Alice Rohrwacher is the first Italian female director to win an award at the Cannes Film Festival. His The wonders it has in fact won the Grand Prix du Jury. The 32-year-old director, Alba Rohrwacher's sister, who received the award from a moved Sophia Loren, said: “I thank you all. I thank you jurors because your work made me fall in love and brought me here ”.

Palme d'Or to Turkish director Nuri Bilge Ceylan for the film Winter Sleep, while the Jury Prize is awarded to two directors: the Canadian Xavier Dolan for Mommy and to the great Jean-Luc Godard for Adieau au language.
Best Director Award to Bennet Miller, the American director who participated with the film Foxcatcher.
Recognition also to the talented actress Julianne Moore, star of Maps to the Stars by David Cronenberg.
Best Actor went to Timothy Spall for his performance in the film Mr Turner by Mike Leigh; the award for the best screenplay went to Andrey Zvyagintsev for Leviathan.
