The benefits of music for children!

Noemi, a pianist and piano teacher, artistic director of Settembre Classico, explains the many advantages of teaching music to children from a very young age. It is no secret that the language of music is universal and open to a thousand teachings and stimuli, so let's imagine the potential it can arouse if it is welcomed by a curious and receptive child who will multiply its benefits exponentially. Just like languages, music too, if discovered and studied by children, will give faster and more effective results. So why not direct our children towards this discipline that will bring them a great personal enrichment capable of accompanying them throughout their lives?

Noemi in particular talks about her approach to teaching the Russian method for children who are starting to play the piano. It is one of the most loved instruments by children, but what does this special Russian piano method consist of?

The little ones start working on pieces without the need to read the music at the beginning. Basically they learn by imitation: they imitate everything about the musical process, the phrases, when they have to be softer or louder, what is the meaning of the phrase, then, when they have been studying for about a couple of years, they begin to read music, and at that point the reading happens very quickly and immediately, because they already know how to play.

One of the very first benefits of music on children is curiosity and the incentive to learn something new, not only that, with music, children learn discipline, respect for the rules, the importance of commitment and perseverance, as well as feel the need to build something and work to achieve success and results. In fact, these are great teachings that immediately set the mindset of the little ones, facilitating them even during the moment of growth and preparing them to face the trials of life in the best possible way.

But when should the musical training of the little ones begin? Noemi advises as soon as possible. On the contrary, he urges mothers to start already in the moment of sweet expectation: listening can be a first form of study of music. And even in that case, it can bring many benefits, especially on a psychological level for both the mother and the unborn child.

In short, there are really many benefits that music gives to children and beyond. Studying music, playing and falling in love more and more with this art is a real enrichment that we should never let go, but cultivate with care throughout our existence.
