"Asexual", here is the new "gender"

This is the new genre that scholars and researchers fear may be spreading and even threaten mankind.

But who are asexuals? They would be those who have lost any kind of interest or urge towards sex. This in itself makes you smile and doubt, but there are those who take it with conviction and have also created a site - www.asexuality.org - of which there is also the Italian version and in which we read: "We want the "asexuality is recognized as another form of sexuality, an orientation. Not as a disease or something that people should be ashamed of."
As evidence of how serious the "movement" is, the first non-academic conference on asexuality, the "World Pride", was also held on 8 July in London.

"Asexuality is not a sexual disorder. It is the lack of interest in sex that leads to not engaging in sexual activity. However, the absence of relationships is not perceived by asexuals as a problem, but as a personal characteristic that, if shared, can lead to lasting and fulfilling relationships ", comments Sarah Di Bello, Psychologist, Psychotherapist and Consultant in Clinical Sexology. "If, on the other hand, the lack of interest in sex is experienced with discomfort and is consequent to sexual dysfunctions or relational suffering, then we are not talking about asexuality, but about a personal or couple problem, which is best addressed with the help of a professional", concludes Di Bello.
