6 reasons to love dance as a discipline for the body and mind

Often, as mothers, one wonders which activity would be more appropriate for their children. Often as adults you look for something to dedicate yourself to to feel better about yourself. Dance is an "ancient form of art", it has existed for as long as man has existed, because it has always been a "need of the body to express itself by dancing." Besides rediscovering our roots, why choose dance?
To begin with, because if you dance, nothing is impossible:

1. Dance gives you discipline

The dance, well done, of any type of style, needs to be followed by the rules that are fundamental to discipline the mind and body. Respect for timetables, respect for teachers, respect for the rules of the room where lessons take place, respect for one's body which includes proper nutrition and training, respect for one's emotions and sensations which are fundamental to cultivate one's artistic sense.

2. Dance gives you elegance

Knowing how to manage your body means having a certain awareness of yourself. It doesn't matter which style you choose to study; learning, especially from an early age, to know one's limits and potential, to have a specific setting and to be aware of one's movements, is a winning card for assimilating the concept of elegance and grace. A knowledge that if assimilated, it can never be forgotten.

3. Dance builds muscles

The dance intended as a sport, therefore as a purely physical activity, combines the pleasure of fun with the possibility of forming a solid and elongated musculature, as well as giving other other benefits to the body (the release of endorphins, oxygenation of the bones, etc.). In the case of a correct work, especially in the field of classical dance, the muscle is tightened not by swelling but, in fact, by lengthening. With a correct and solid work, the dance activates all the body muscles: the muscles of the neck, arms, back, abdomen, buttocks, legs, feet work.

4. Dance teaches you to strive for a goal

Dance is formative for the mind: you choose a goal and question yourself to achieve it. Dance is a challenge. It might seem trivial and easy, but we're not talking about the "goal" to be a dancer here. Becoming a professional dancer, being paid to dance, is just the ultimate goal of a dancer. Dancing means fighting daily challenges, with the obligation to always be terribly honest with yourself. Only by facing your limits with courage, determination and sincerity can you grow in the world of dance. Limits are not only physical (they would be enough per self), but also mental. A character weakness must be managed and it must become functional to the discipline. The goal is every day, for this reason to do dance it is necessary to be intelligent: the intelligence to accept one's defects, to overcome them.

5. Dance is an art form

Classical dance was born as a form of entertainment for the nobles. Like theater, or a painting on display, dance is art. Learn to express, to tell, with the body, with the eyes. Learning to understand what to throw out of oneself, to be able to excite an audience, or to represent a story. Dance is also this, and we are far beyond a simple competitive sport (although there is a ruthless competitive spirit in dance). In a reality made of appearances, fictions, falsehoods, social image, dance remains an art form in which you have no choice: to be strong, you must be authentic.

6. When you dance, everything that ails you disappears

Dance frees the mind. Stay there, with your goals, your classmates, your sacrifices and you are 100% in the room. There is no room for everyday problems when you are within the 4 walls of a room. Fortunately, that is a sacred space, dedicated only to ourselves in which the rest disappears to make room for the search for what you want to be. And it doesn't resolve itself in a retouched photo, it resolves itself by staying in connection with yourself.
